Randall Cobb 2022 Outlook: More Opportunity But Still Not Much Upside
2 years agoIn his return to the Green Bay Packers in 2021, veteran wide receiver Randall Cobb produced 28 catches on 39 targets for 375 yards, which matched his career-low set in his rookie season in 2011, and five touchdowns in 12 games (three starts). He spent the final five weeks on Injured Reserve. There will be a lot more targets to go around in Green Bay now that All-Pro pass-catcher Davante Adams is in Las Vegas, but should fantasy managers be ready to trust a 31-year-old Cobb, who hasn't played a full season since 2015? Cobb has plenty of chemistry with quarterback Aaron Rodgers and should enter the season as a starter alongside Allen Lazard, barring any further additions this summer, but there's much more upside with rookie Christian Watson and even Amari Rodgers over the course of a full season. Cobb will probably have a few splash games, but consistency will continue to be a problem, and there are better late-round fliers. Despite the fact he'll be the team's starting slot receiver, Cobb will most likely go undrafted in standard 12-team leagues.
