The Philadelphia Phillies signed rookie right-handed pitcher Mick Abel to a $4.075 million contract after selecting him with the 15th overall pick in the MLB draft. The 6-foot-5 right-hander was regarded as the top high school pitcher in the draft thanks to a fastball that sits between 93-98 mph with a plus slider and a changeup. Abel was a two-time Gatorade Oregon baseball Player of the Year without even throwing a pitch in his senior season, which was canceled due to COVID-19. Abel will forego a scholarship to Oregon State to sign with the Phillies and immediately become one of their top pitching prospects. It will take Abel some time to get to the majors, but he should be owned in dynasty leagues and will be a name to monitor when he gets closer to the big leagues.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBallerRead More News
