7 days agoDetroit Lions left tackle Taylor Decker (ankle, foot) said on Tuesday that he underwent surgery on his ankle and foot this offseason. The surgery was related to an injury that he's been dealing with since college. Decker said he feels great walking around now. He'll be limited this spring but should be fine for the start of the 2024 regular season this fall. Despite not being 100 percent healthy last year, the 29-year-old only missed two regular-season games for the Lions and played in all three of their playoff contests. The former 16th overall pick by Detroit in the 2016 NFL draft out of Ohio State is one of the big reasons why the Lions' offense has soared in recent seasons as he's protected quarterback

Courtland Sutton did not report on Monday for the start of voluntary offseason workouts as he seeks a new contract, according to a source. Sutton is going on his 10th starting quarterback in seven seasons in Denver and has only $2 million guaranteed left on his current deal. He had 10 touchdowns in 2023 while ranking 56th in the league in targets (90). The former second-round pick in 2018 out of SMU also had 59 receptions for 772 yards last year, but now that
Russell Wilson is in Pittsburgh and the Broncos currently have
Jarrett Stidham as their starter under center, Sutton is due for some big regression (mainly in the TD department) in 2024 if he sticks around in Denver. Even with
Jerry Jeudy also gone, the 28-year-old Sutton could struggle to come close to another 1,000-yard season with more questions at QB.

1 week agoThe New Orleans Saints re-signed cornerback Shemar Jean-Charles on Monday after not tendering him as a restricted free agent. Jean-Charles spent the 2023 campaign with the San Francisco 49ers and Saints and will now return to the Big Easy in 2024 after finishing last year with a combined four tackles (three solo) in eight games (zero starts) with both teams. The 25-year-old Florida native was originally a fifth-round selection by the Green Bay Packers in 2021 out of Appalachian State and spent the first two seasons of his NFL career in Green Bay, recording just seven solo tackles in 20 games played (zero starts). Jean-Charles will merely be hoping to make New Orleans' active roster this summer out of training camp.

1 week agoNew York Giants restricted free-agent cornerback Nick McCloud signed his free-agent tender offer on Monday to officially return to the team for the 2024 season. McCloud played in all 17 regular-season games (three starts) but was injured in the regular-season finale against the Philadelphia Eagles. The 25-year-old finished his third year in the NFL with 28 tackles (20 solo), his first career interception, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. He entered the NFL in 2021 with the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame. In his three years in the league, McCloud has picked up 71 tackles (55 solo), 1.5 sacks, one interception, nine passes defended, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries in 33 games (11 starts).

1 week agoLas Vegas Raiders star edge rusher Maxx Crosby (knee) is back to 100 percent health and is as optimistic as ever entering his first full year under head coach Antonio Pierce in 2024. "Recovery and rehab has been incredible," Crosby said on Monday. "I just did my conditioning tests last week and smashed it. And I'm feeling better than I ever have, so it's been an incredible offseason so far." Despite dealing with a nagging knee injury last year, Crosby had career-highs in sacks (14.5), tackles (90) and tackles for loss (23) in 17 games to earn his third Pro Bowl selection and a second-team All-Pro selection. It's scary to think what a fully healthy Crosby could do in 2024 as one of the best pure pass-rushers in the NFL.

The 31-year-old was selected by the Chicago Bears in the 2016 NFL Draft, and he spent his entire eight-year NFL career in the Windy City before becoming a free agent this offseason. He earned a trip to the Pro Bowl in 2018. Whitehair has played in 124 games (118 starts) and has experience at both left guard and center. The Raiders could take a swing on a quarterback in the first round of the upcoming NFL Draft, and building up the offensive line is a key priority, as shown by this signing.

1 week agoThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced on X that veteran defensive lineman Will Gholston is re-signing with the organization. 2024 will mark the 12th season Gholston will have played in Tampa Bay. Originally a fourth-round selection in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Michigan State product has racked up 419 tackles, 19.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, one interception, and 14 pass deflections in 169 career games. His production has dropped off in recent years, but the team evidently values him as a veteran presence in the locker room. He is likely to remain a rotational player on Tampa Bay's stout defensive front.

Aaron Rodgers yet another intriguing weapon in 2024 if the Jets were to select Bowers in the upcoming NFL draft. Bowers was a three-time first-team All American in his three years with the Bulldogs while leading Georgia in receiving all three years. He's easily regarded as the best tight end in this year's class and could come off the board as early as 10th overall in the first round to the Jets. In his three years at Georgia, Bowers caught 175 passes for 2,538 yards and 26 touchdowns. He could be fantasy relevant immediately in his first year in the NFL, but if he lands with the Jets, he'll have a lot of competition for targets.

Daniel Jones (knee), who is returning from a torn ACL that he suffered in 2023, told reporters on Monday that the plan is for him to be fully cleared for training camp this summer. Jones has not had any setbacks since undergoing surgery on Nov. 22 to fix his right ACL tear. The 26-year-old also said the neck injury he dealt with last year before hurting his knee is in the rearview mirror. Despite the fact that the Giants are considering drafting another QB at the end of this month, they continue to say that Jones will be the unquestioned starter under center when he returns from his knee injury. Although Jones had a career year in 2022, plenty of questions remain as to whether he can repeat that performance, especially now that running back
Saquon Barkley is no longer in town. Consider him a low-upside QB2 with more question marks coming off a serious knee injury.
