3 days agoLos Angeles Kings goaltender Cam Talbot posted his fourth consecutive victory in Monday's 3-2 win over the Canucks. He gave up a first-period goal to Sam Lafferty but played a rock-solid game overall and finished with 21 saves. Brock Boeser got the second one past Talbot late in the game. The four-game winning streak matches Talbot's season best. He's posted a 23-16-6 record while allowing 2.43 goals with a .917 save percentage. Talbot will need to survive a meeting with Connor McDavid and the Oilers next to keep his winning run going.Source: ESPN
3 days agoLos Angeles Kings center Anze Kopitar had a fourth consecutive multi-point game on Monday versus Vancouver, tying the longest such streak of his career. The Kings captain did the damage this time with a goal and an assist, helping the team get a crucial 3-2 win. Kopitar has had four goals and five assists during his streak and boasts 64 points (24 goals, 40 assists) in total across 71 games. He will be the first King since Alex Frolov in 2006-07 with a five-game multi-point streak if Kopitar can grab at least a pair of points again in Thursday's big matchup against Edmonton.Source: ESPN
4 days agoSt. Louis Blues forward Oskar Sundqvist has suffered a knee injury after taking a hit from Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Brayden McNabb on Monday night. The pivot was seen leaving the arena on crutches and in a knee brace as the ailment could be of the serious variety. The 30-year-old has tallied six goals and 21 points across 70 games on the season while adding 82 shots on goal and a minus-five rating across 70 games. 4 days agoVancouver Canucks forward Elias Lindholm was held out of the lineup on Monday with what is believed to be a hand/wrist issue. The veteran remains day to day after he skated 15:42 against his old team, the Calgary Flames, in a 4-2 win on Saturday night. It's been a decent offensive season for the veteran who has tallied 14 goals and 41 points across 71 games, the first 49 of which came with the Flames. 4 days agoVegas Golden Knights forward Jonathan Marchessault played the overtime hero Monday in a crucial battle against the St. Louis Blues. The veteran ended the game just 49 seconds into the extra frame as the Golden Knights gained some additional breathing room on the Blues. With the win, Vegas gained an extra point on the Blues as they now sit five points up on them for the second and final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. Binnington and Joel Hofer have alternated starts of late but it will be Binnington getting his second straight start on Monday. The 30-year-old has posted a 2.85 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage across 50 games on the season, going 25-19-3 in the process. He yielded four goals on 34 shots (.882 Sv%) his last time out. Thompson's battery mate, Adin Hill, left Saturday's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets with an undisclosed injury, although Thompson was already scheduled to start Monday's contest. "[Hill came to the bench and said he wasn't feeling 100 percent, so we made the switch," Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said after the game. " Other than that, he's getting his tests." The 27-year-old has put forth a 2.77 goals-against average and a .905 save percentage across 38 games on the season, going 19-12-5 in the process. Pietrangelo has enjoyed a solid season but one that has fallen below his previously high standards. He has recorded four goals and 32 points across 62 games on the campaign, adding 155 blocked shots and a minus-five rating on the season. The emergence of Shea Theodore has had a negative impact on Pietrangelo's offensive production, especially on the power play. He has just eight points on the man advantage this season. 4 days agoFlorida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov (lower body) and defenseman Aaron Ekblad (lower body) are both expected to return to the lineup for Tuesday's pivotal game against the Boston Bruins. Barkov has missed the last three games due to a lower-body injury, while Ekblad has missed the past six games with a lower-body ailment. "Barkov is close," Panthers head coach Paul Maurice said before Sunday's win over the Philadelphia Flyers. "Ekblad is right on schedule. He was kind of middle of next week, that was the idea. 4 days agoArizona Coyotes forward prospect Josh Doan, the son of Coyotes legend Shane Doan, could make his NHL debut when the club hosts the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday. The 22-year-old has enjoyed a nice season with Tucson of the American Hockey League, tallying 26 goals and 46 points across 62 games in what is his first professional season. He recorded three goals and six points across 14 games with Tuscon after finishing his season with Arizona State University in the 2022-23 campaign. The 25-year-old, who's now had 30-plus goals in back-to-back seasons, became the first Coyote since Yanic Perreault in 2006-07 to score in five straight regular-season games. He's also had a pair of assists during the streak and is demonstrating impressive end-of-the-season form -- the American star has notched 10 points (eight goals, two assists) in his last nine appearances. His seventh three-point outing of the season helped Stutzle to become the fifth skater in franchise history to post back-to-back 50-assist campaigns. He's added 18 goals for a nice 68-point effort across 70 games in 2023-24. He helped Adam Henrique to notch an early goal and posted a pair of power-play assists in the second period when Leon Draisaitl and Zach Hyman scored. Bouchard became the second blue-liner in franchise history to amass at least 70 points over a single season, joining the legendary Paul Coffey, who had five such years. He had two goals and one assist as the Avalanche produced an extraordinary comeback from a four-goal deficit. Drouin has been on a heater lately, registering three consecutive multi-point games and notching 12 points (four goals, eight assists) across his last eight appearances. The recent improvement in form has taken Drouin's points tally to 46 for the season. He has notched 14 goals and 32 assists in 68 appearances. 4 days agoWashington Capitals goaltender Charlie Lindgren kept the Jets grounded on Sunday, recording a 27-save shutout in a 3-0 win. It's his fifth shutout of the season, which puts Lindgren tied for the third spot in the league behind Arizona's Connor Ingram and Pittsburgh's Tristan Jarry. Lindgren has given a major boost to the Capitals, who have come back from the dead to re-enter the playoff race in the Eastern Conference.
