Taylor Walls (hip) is taking 10 to 14 days off from baseball activities due to hip inflammation. The Rays moved Walls to the 60-day injured list over the weekend while he recovers from surgery on his right hip. There's no clear timetable for his return, with manager Kevin Cash saying on April 13 that Walls is "just not going as quick as maybe we had originally anticipated." Given the amount of time he has missed, it seems likely Walls will have to essentially recreate a progression similar to spring training whenever he gets back to game action. The 27-year-old had surgery on Oct. 27 to fix a labral tear in his right hip. He said he had been dealing with a "noticeable hip impingement" for more than a year. It would probably be a surprise if we saw Walls in the big leagues before June.

Josh Lowe (oblique) started a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Durham over the weekend and hit a home run in his second game back on Saturday with a Statcast-projected 106.4 mph, 403-foot shot to right-center field. He finished the game 2-for-3 with a homer and four RBI for the Bulls. The 26-year-old strained his right oblique during spring training and was forced to open the year on the injured list. Lowe is expected back around early May, and there's no reason he should be on your league's waiver wire after breaking out in 2023 with 20 home runs and 32 stolen bases. When Lowe is able to return to Tampa,
Amed Rosario and
Richie Palacios will likely be hurt the most in terms of playing time in the Rays' outfield. Lowe essentially needs a full spring training's worth of at-bats to get ready.

Jackson Holliday is out of the team's starting lineup on Monday against the Los Angeles Angels and left-hander
Reid Detmers. Holliday has yet to face a left-handed starter since making his MLB debut recently. The Orioles aren't going to put too much on the 20-year-old's plate early on, even if he is the consensus top prospect in the big leagues. Fantasy managers that have invested in the former first overall pick in 2022 for the long term shouldn't be panicking just yet, but Holliday has done very little in the start of his first season in the big leagues with just one hit and an RBI in his first 30 at-bats in Baltimore while walking three times and striking out 15 times.
Jorge Mateo is at the keystone on Monday and is hitting ninth against Detmers. Mateo is hitting .222 in nine career at-bats versus Detmers.

Jonathan Aranda (finger) could be making his way back to the field soon. Recent reports are that Aranda is nearing a rehab assignment, which is positive news in his recovery process. Aranda was placed on the injured list in late March due to a broken right ring finger. The 25-year-old should be able to back get on the field and be ready around early or mid-May. Aranda figures to play a significant role on the Rays once he's healthy.

Taj Bradley (pectoral) appears to be making solid progress in his recovery process. The right-hander is reportedly scheduled to head to Triple-A soon to begin a rehab assignment. Bradley has been sidelined since late March due to a pectoral strain. The organization's original timetable was that Bradley would miss at least six weeks of action. It seems like Bradley should be able to beat that timetable, but fantasy managers should stay tuned for more information.

Paul Sewald (oblique) is set to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Reno on Tuesday. The right-hander continues to work his way back from a Grade 2 left oblique strain that has sidelined him since the beginning of the season. The 33-year-old has been able to throw bullpen sessions without any issues. He should need a few rehab appearances before he's ready to return to the big league bullpen. Sewald should get the bulk of the saves once he's back. Fantasy managers who are in need of relievers or save might want to stash Sewald if he's available.

Zack Gelof came up clutch for the team during Monday's game against the New York Yankees. The young infielder broke a scoreless tie with a go-ahead two-run home run in the ninth inning. This was the first time that Gelof had recorded an RBI since April 10. The A's recently dropped Gelof to the sixth-hole, which shouldn't be surprising given how much he has struggled. Most fantasy managers can stay away given his current .205/.271/.352 slash line.

Carlos Rodon was tough to hit during Monday's game against the Oakland Athletics. The left-hander threw seven scoreless innings while allowing only one hit in what ended up being a no-decision. Sadly for Rodon, the Yankees offense didn't do much during this game. The Yankees ended up giving up two runs in the ninth inning and lost 2-0. Rodon is posting a solid 2.70 ERA, even though his 22/13 K/BB ratio isn't pretty. Fantasy managers will take this strong outing, but don't expect it every start from Rodon.

Quinn Priester will get another start on Wednesday to face the visiting Milwaukee Brewers. Priester will get another shot at it for Pittsburgh despite allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits (three home runs) with one walk in 4 1/3 innings in his season debut last Friday against the Boston Red Sox. The 23-year-old is going to need to do better this week against a tough Brewers lineup if he wants any chance of remaining in the Pirates' rotation moving forward. The former 18th overall pick in 2019 out of high school just hasn't been very good so far in the big leagues, dating back to his debut in 2023, as he's gone 3-4 with a 7.79 ERA and 1.71 WHIP with 28 walks and 38 strikeouts in 54 1/3 innings over 11 outings (nine starts).

Ricky Tiedemann (elbow), who is currently on the injured list at Triple-A Buffalo, is seeing team doctors in Toronto this week. Per the Blue Jays, Tiedemann's next steps will be determined from there. It's usually not a good thing when pitchers are meeting with doctors, but we won't know the true extent of the young pitcher's damage until the results of his meeting with doctors is revealed. The 21-year-old southpaw has been dealing with elbow discomfort after recording a 5.63 ERA and 2.00 WHIP in his first three starts for Buffalo this year. Tiedemann also missed time due to shoulder and biceps issues in 2023, so it's concerning for the No. 26 overall prospect this year, per MLB Pipeline. Even if this isn't a season-ending injury for Tiedemann, we may not see him in the big leagues in 2024.

Landon Knack will make another start on Wednesday versus the Washington Nationals on the road. Knack, 26, made his major-league debut last week against these very same Nats in a start and allowed two earned runs on four hits (one homer) while walking one and striking out four in five innings in a loss. Knack won't be the worst sleeper streamer against a weak Nationals lineup for Wednesday's slate, but there's also a fair amount of risk for a pitcher making his second MLB start on the road. Brenton Doyle (chest) is back in center field and is batting seventh on Monday against the visiting San Diego Padres and right-hander
Dylan Cease. The Rockies held Doyle out as a precaution for the second game of a doubleheader on Sunday against the Seattle Mariners after he suffered a chest injury in Game 1. The 25-year-old has limited fantasy upside while hitting down near the bottom of Colorado's batting order, but that hasn't taken away from his hot start in 2024. The former fourth-rounder in 2019 from Shepherd University his hitting .289 (22-for-76) with three home runs, seven RBI and two stolen bases. Doyle is hitless so far in two career at-bats against Cease.

Jakob Junis (head, shoulder) was hit in the head by a line drive during pre-game batting practice before Monday's contest against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Junis is currently on the 15-day injured list with a right-shoulder injury. He was alert and responsive and was taken for more observation by an ambulance at PNC Park in Pittsburgh. The 31-year-old will surely be put through the league's concussion protocol, and it's unclear right now if his head injury will affect how quickly he'll be able to return from the IL for the Brewers. Junis made just one start on April 2 against the Minnesota Twins before going on the shelf with his shoulder injury. In his lone start, he gave up just one earned run on three hits while walking one and striking out four in four innings for a no-decision.

Andruw Monasterio to Nashville. The 37-year-old Miley started the 2024 season on the injured list with a left-shoulder injury and he also missed time in 2023 with elbow and lat ailments. Miley is set to undergo tests on Tuesday and could be out for an extended amount of time. Myers is the most logical choice to fill in for Miley on Tuesday and start against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Miley already wasn't really an attractive option for fantasy managers in deep-mixed leagues before the injury.
