Zack Wheeler and the Philadelphia Phillies. Contreras is still dealing with soreness in his left hand and will make his first start since being hit by a pitch last Wednesday. The 31-year-old still feels the injury slightly when he swings, so DFS gamers would probably be smart to avoid him in his first game back.
Ivan Herrera is starting at catcher and is batting sixth in St. Louis' lineup. In addition to Contreras not being 100 percent just yet, he's returning to a tough matchup against Wheeler, a pitcher he's hit just .200 against with one RBI in 15 career at-bats.

Spencer Strider (elbow) visited with Dr. Keith Meister in Dallas on Monday, but the team isn't going to reveal what was said before this weekend. The skipper said yesterday's visit didn't erase the possibility of Tommy John surgery, and the Braves might be waiting for the surgery to be completed before providing an update on Snitker. The 25-year-old ace was put on the 15-day injured list on Sunday with a UCL sprain in his right elbow, and the expectation is that he'll undergo his second Tommy John surgery and miss the remainder of the 2024 season. Fantasy baseball managers need to brace themselves for the bad news this weekend. Because of the lengthy rehab associated with TJ surgery, Strider is unlikely to be ready for the start of next year, either.

Yoan Moncada (hip, groin) is dealing with a nagging hip/adductor injury for the last three to four days, but the skipper said he doesn't expect the injury to keep Moncada out of the lineup. Lenyn Sosa is starting at second base and is hitting third in the batting order on Tuesday against the Cleveland Guardians and left-hander
Logan Allen. This will be Sosa's second start with the White Sox since being called up from the minors over the weekend. With the 24-year-old drawing into the lineup at second base,
Nicky Lopez will hit the bench for this one. Sosa has gone 2-for-5 so far in his two games but hit just .201/.224/.348 with six home runs, 14 RBI and 12 runs scored in 173 plate appearances over 52 games for the Pale Hose last year. He'll be in a nice lineup spot to make him a deep DFS sleeper on Tuesday, but Sosa's opportunity speaks more to Chicago's lack of options than his actual talent.

Brayan Rocchio is taking the day off on Tuesday against the visiting Chicago White Sox. The rookie is the club's primary shortstop and has started off the 2024 season in good shape offensively, going 9-for-33 (.273) with a league-leading five doubles, two RBI and four runs scored in his first nine games. Eduardo Rodriguez (lat) has started throwing bullpen sessions. He was removed from his Cactus League start on May 19 against the Chicago Cubs with left-lat tightness and was diagnosed with a strain after undergoing an MRI exam the following day. Even though E-Rod has made encouraging progress so far, the 31-year-old veteran southpaw is going to eventually need to go on a minor-league rehab assignment before the D-backs activate him from the injured list for his team debut. Rodriguez will have a starting rotation spot waiting for him when he's ready to go, although he's a prime candidate for regression in fantasy leagues after posting career-bests in ERA and WHIP in 2023 in his final year with the Detroit Tigers.

Geraldo Perdomo (knee) had surgery on Monday to fix a torn meniscus in his right knee after being placed on the 10-day injured list on Sunday. Manager Torey Lovullo said the surgery went well. Perdomo is "bummed" and hopes to be back next month. The D-backs brought up infielder
Kevin Newman from Triple-A Reno, but
Blaze Alexander is expected to see most of the playing time at the 6 in Perdomo's absence, with
Jace Peterson also an option at the position. In six games at Reno, Newman hit .364/.407/.636 with a home run and seven RBI. The 24-year-old Perdomo injured his knee on April 3 while rounding the bases in extra innings and is expected to miss at least a month of action.

Michael Tonkin from the New York Mets for cash considerations and moved right-hander
Zack Weiss (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list with a right-shoulder strain. The 31-year-old Kepler has struggled with injuries in his career and will now miss at least the next 10 days with what doesn't appear to be a major injury. He last played on Saturday and will be eligible to return to the Twins on April 17. In addition to the injury, Kepler has gone just 1-for-20 with six strikeouts in his first five games in 2024. Joan Adon was called up from Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday and will make the start against the San Francisco Giants on the road. Adon was brought up to replace right-hander
Josiah Gray (elbow), who landed on the 15-day injured list. Depending on how long Gray ends up being out and how Adon performs in Washington's starting rotation, the 25-year-old could stick around in D.C., making him worth a look as a waiver-wire pickup in NL-only leagues. He has above-average velocity and gets frequent ground balls, although he had a rough 6.45 ERA with 24 walks and 48 strikeouts in 51 2/3 innings over 12 appearances (10 starts) for the Nats in 2023. Unless he shows more consistency than he has in the last three seasons in the big leagues, fantasy managers in mixed leagues can probably ignore him.

Joan Adon from Triple-A Rochester in a corresponding move. Fantasy baseball managers in shallower mixed leagues that have Gray rostered will probably waste no time dumping him to the waiver wire after he's started the 2024 campaign by surrendering 13 earned runs on 15 hits (two home runs) while walking five and striking out nine in 8 1/3 innings over his first two starts of the year. The 26-year-old could also be in danger of missing serious time given the nature of his arm injury. Adon will make the start on Tuesday in San Francisco against the Giants.

Nick Pivetta (elbow) has a "mild strain" of the flexor tendon in his right arm and could return from the 15-day injured list when he's eligible. The Red Sox wanted to take advantage of the early season schedule to give Pivetta some time off. The 31-year-old is going to miss the next two weeks, but fantasy managers that have him rostered need to keep him in an IL spot until he returns. Pivetta has been excellent in the early going, allowing only an earned run on a solo home run while walking one and fanning 13 in 11 innings over his first two starts in 2024. Kyle Bradish (elbow) has joined High-A Aberdeen on Tuesday to begin his minor-league rehab assignment. Bradish was diagnosed with a sprain in the UCL of his right elbow and began the season on the injured list. The right-hander missed most of spring training and will likely need most of the 30-day rehab window to build back up. Last season, Bradish went 12-7 with a 2.83 ERA in 30 starts for the Orioles, so he's worth stashing in deep-mixed and AL-only leagues if you have the room.

Julio Teheran for assignment on Tuesday, the team announced. Teheran signed a one-year $2.5 million deal with the Mets on April 5 after he failed to make the Baltimore Orioles roster. The right-hander made one start for New York allowing four runs on six hits across 2 and 2/3 innings. Following the outing, the Mets designated the right-hander for assignment, and in his spot, New York called up right-handed pitcher Dedniel Núñez.

Grossman has struggled this season as he has yet to record a hit in 11 at-bats while striking out three times but has walked twice. Grossman signed a minor-league deal with the White Sox and had his contract selected after hitting .400 with two home runs and five RBI in Triple-A.
