1 month agoThe Indianapolis Colts re-signed center Danny Pinter (ankle) to an undisclosed one-year deal on Tuesday, according to a source. The Colts decided to bring Pinter back in 2024 despite the fact that he missed all of the 2023 campaign due to broken ankle that he suffered against the Philadelphia Eagles in the preseason. The 27-year-old was drafted by the Colts in the fifth round (149th overall) in 2020 out of Ball State. In his first four seasons, Pinter has started just seven of the 46 games that he's appeared in. The Indiana native should come to training camp this summer with a clean bill of health after undergoing surgery as he looks to earn a bigger role on the Colts' offensive line. Most likely, Pinter will open the year as a backup, with the Colts returning all seven players who started at least one game in 2023.

1 month agoDetroit Lions defensive end Romeo Okwara announced his retirement from professional football on Tuesday after eight seasons in the NFL. "After some introspection and meditation I have decided to step away from the NFL," Okwara wrote on his Instagram account. The 28-year-old appeared in 16 games for the Lions last year, registering nine tackles, five QB hits and two sacks as part of the team's defensive-line rotation. He was set to be a free agent this offseason. Okwara entered the league in 2016 with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame. He spent his first two seasons with the G-Men before being claimed off waivers by the Lions in 2018. Okwara led the Lions with 7.5 sacks in 2018, and his 23 career sacks rank as the fourth-most by an NFL player born in Nigeria.

1 month agoThe Carolina Panthers agreed to an undisclosed one-year deal on Tuesday with former Denver Broncos linebacker Justin Strnad, according to a league source. Strnad reunites with defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero after spending the first three seasons of his NFL career with the Broncos. Last year in Denver, the 27-year-old former fifth-round pick in 2020 out of Wake Forest had just five tackles (four solo) in 17 games played (zero starts). Strnad's best season came in his rookie year in 2021, when he had 36 tackles (23 solo) in 16 games (five starts). Now in the NFC, Strnad will most likely continue to represent linebacking depth while also filling in on special teams for the Panthers.

1 month agoFormer Dallas Cowboys nose tackle Johnathan Hankins is expected to sign an undisclosed deal with the Seattle Seahawks, according to a person close to the situation. The Cowboys were interested in bringing Hankins back, but the Seahawks offered more. The 31-year-old came into the NFL as a second-round pick of the New York Giants in 2013 out of Ohio State and spent the first four years of his career in the Big Apple before also playing for the Indianapolis Colts and Las Vegas Raiders. Hankins had 27 tackles (13 solo) and three sacks in 14 regular-season starts for Dallas in 2023. He will help beef up the interior of Seattle's defensive line in 2024 and brings veteran experience, but Hankins shouldn't be drafted in IDP fantasy leagues.

1 month agoThe Minnesota Vikings agreed to terms on an undisclosed deal with free-agent center/guard Dan Feeney on Tuesday. Feeney will bring plenty of versatility and experience to Minnesota in 2024, having appeared in 112 games (65 starts) over his seven NFL seasons after originally being taken in the third round (71st overall) by the Los Angeles Chargers in 2017 out of Indiana. He spent the 2023 campaign with the Chicago Bears, appearing in 16 games (one start) in the Windy City. The 29-year-old will come to the Vikings in 2024 looking to plug a hole on the interior of their offensive line, and he could be blocking for a rookie quarterback if the team trades up in the first round of the draft to select one.

1 month agoNew Orleans Saints executive vice president/general manager Mickey Loomis announced on Tuesday that the team re-signed safety Ugo Amadi to an undisclosed deal. The 5-foot-9, 201-pound defensive back was originally drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the fourth round (132nd overall) in 2019 out of Oregon. He played the first three seasons of his NFL career in Seattle before playing for the Chiefs and Titans in 2022 and the Saints last year. In a depth capacity for New Orleans in 2023, the 26-year-old safety has 12 tackles (six solo) in 17 games played (zero starts). Amadi will do the same again in 2024 while also contributing on special teams for the Saints. Avoid him in IDP fantasy leagues.

The 6-foot-4, 318-pound defensive lineman was a rookie in 2023 after initially signing with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of Penn State. He then signed with the New Orleans Saints and had four tackles (one solo) in four games played (zero starts) in the Big Easy. Mustipher had 145 tackles (11 for loss), three sacks and two forced fumbles in his five years with the Nittany Lions in college before heading to the NFL last year. The 25-year-old will join Philadelphia in his second NFL campaign and will just be hoping to make the roster out of training camp this summer.

1 month agoThe Green Bay Packers re-signed cornerback Robert Rochell to an undisclosed deal on Tuesday, according to general manager Brian Gutekunst. In his first year with Green Bay in 2023, Rochell played in just nine games (zero starts) and recorded four solo tackles. He also suited up for both of the team's playoff games. The 25-year-old was a fourth-round pick by the Los Angeles Rams in 2021 out of Central Arkansas. He has started only five of the 37 games he's played in so far in three NFL seasons (two with the Rams), totaling 23 tackles (20 solo), an interception and two fumble recoveries. Rochell will return to the Packers in 2024 to provide both secondary and special teams depth.

1 month agoThe Baltimore Ravens re-signed cornerback Arthur Maulet to an undisclosed two-year deal on Tuesday. In his first year with the Ravens in 2023, Maulet had 37 tackles (32 solo), a career-high-tying two sacks, five tackles for loss, one interception, five passes defensed and two fumble recoveries in 14 regular-season games (three starts) as the team's nickel cornerback. The 30-year-old entered the league in 2017 with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Memphis. Maulet will return to Baltimore for another two years to give them secondary depth. In his seven NFL seasons, Maulet has tallied 220 tackles (164 solo), five sacks, 17 tackles for loss, eight QB hits, four interceptions, 16 passes defended, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries (one returned for a touchdown) in 82 games (23 starts).

James Proche II to an undisclosed deal on Tuesday. Proche, a former sixth-round selection by the Baltimore Ravens in 2020 out of SMU, didn't catch any of his five targets in 10 regular-season games (one start) in 2023 in his first year with the Browns. He did, however, return 22 points for 197 yards and one kickoff for a gain of 19 yards last year. The 27-year-old has a grand total of 25 career receptions on 45 targets for 278 yards and no touchdowns in 53 games (one start) in his four NFL seasons, so he's not going to be a factor suddenly on offense for Cleveland in 2024. Proche will, however, give the Browns another option to return kicks on special teams yet again.

1 month agoFree-agent offensive tackle Olisaemeka Udoh is signing with the New Orleans Saints, the team announced on X. The former sixth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft has spent his entire five-year career with the Minnesota Vikings and now heads to The Big Easy to play for Dennis Allen. Udoh has 43 games and 18 starts of NFL experience under his belt, but he's likely to be a backup tackle for New Orleans in 2024. He played under new Saints offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak while in Minnesota in 2019 and 2020.

1 month agoThe Minnesota Vikings have agreed to terms with cornerback Shaquill Griffin, according to ESPN's Kevin Seifert. Griffin spent last season with the Houston Texans and Carolina Panthers, collecting 39 tackles and one sack in 13 games. Overall, the 2018 third-round pick has totaled 366 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, seven interceptions, 64 passes defended, and 10 run stuffs in 89 games with the Seahawks, Jaguars, Texans, and Panthers. The 28-year-old's best days as a player are likely behind him, but he could still be a solid depth player for the rebuilding Vikings in 2024.

Jerry Jeudy to a three-year contract extension worth up to $58 million. The deal includes $41 million guaranteed. The organization sent 2024 fifth and sixth-round picks to acquire Jeudy from the Denver Broncos last week, and they wasted no time offering him a new deal. Jeudy, a former first-round pick in 2020, has hauled in 211 passes for 3,053 yards and 11 touchdowns through his first 57 NFL games. It was previously reported that White was visiting with the Los Angeles Rams and Las Vegas Raiders this week, so there are several teams in the mix for the former All-Pro. White was recently released by the Buffalo Bills after seven seasons with the organization, mostly due to cap space and injury concerns. The 29-year-old has played in just ten games over the last two years, racking up two interceptions and eight passes defended. Nonetheless, teams in desperate need of help in the backend are likely interested in bringing him in on a cheap one-year deal to see if he can turn his career around.
