1 month agoThe New England Patriots and former Atlanta Falcons/Los Angeles Chargers safety Jaylinn Hawkins agreed to an undisclosed one-year deal on Thursday, according to a source. Hawkins' deal qualifies for the veteran salary benefit. If he makes the team, he would be paid a base salary based on his credited seasons (four) but count less on the salary cap. The 26-year-old was a former fourth-round pick by the Falcons in 2020 out of California and spent last year with both the Falcons and Chargers, finishing with 14 tackles (six solo) in 16 games (three starts). He will operate as a depth option for New England's secondary in 2024 behind Jabrill Peppers and Kyle Dugger. In his five-year NFL career, Hawkins has 135 tackles (72 solo), half a sack, four interceptions, 10 passes defensed, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown in 58 games (25 starts).

1 month agoFree-agent offensive guard Josh Jones signed an undisclosed deal with the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday. Jones will head to Baltimore to give the Ravens more offensive line depth after spending the 2023 campaign with the Houston Texans, where played in 13 regular-season games (three starts). The 26-year-old was a third-round selection (72nd overall) by the Arizona Cardinals in 2020 out of Houston and spend the first three years of his NFL career in the desert with the Cardinals. In his four years in the league, Jones has started 24 of the 60 games that he's appeared in. Jones will most likely be serving as a backup at left guard in Baltimore behind Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu and Andrew Vorhees.

1 month agoThe New York Giants restructured defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence's contract on Thursday to free up some 2024 salary cap space. The move freed up $7.5 million in cap space for the team by converting $10 million of Lawrence's base salary this year into a signing bonus. The 26-year-old earned second-team All-Pro honors in 2023 with the Giants by recording 53 tackles (32 solo), 4.5 sacks, seven tackles for loss and 21 QB hits in 16 starts. The elite defensive lineman signed a four-year, $87.5 million deal with the G-Men last year and has spent the first five seasons of his NFL career in the Big Apple after the Giants took Lawrence with the 17th overall pick in the 2019 draft out of Clemson.

1 month agoArizona Cardinals general manager Monti Ossenfort acknowledged that the team is "open for business" when it comes to the No. 4 overall pick in next month's NFL draft. Ossenfort expects talks for the No. 4 overall pick to ramp up at next week's annual league meeting and is willing to listen to any and all offers. In a quarterback and wide receiver-rich draft the Cardinals are sure to garner plenty of interest from other teams looking trade up.
Kyler Murray is locked in as Arizona's starting quarterback, but the Cardinals have been linked as a candidate to take a receiver in many mock drafts, so if they stay put at No. 4, they could take Ohio State wideout
Marvin Harrison Jr. Along with receiver help, the Cardinals need interior offensive-line help as well as additions along their defensive line.

1 month agoFree-agent safety Julian Blackmon is visiting with the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday, according to sources. Blackmon has several suitors this offseason after enjoying a career season in 2023 with the Indianapolis Colts, which included 88 tackles (65 solo) five tackles for loss, four interceptions, eight passes defended and two fumble recoveries in 15 starts. He finished as the No. 26 defensive back in IDP fantasy leagues in his fourth year in the NFL after the Colts took him in the third round (85th overall) in 2020 out of Utah. The 25-year-old missed the final two games of the year due to a shoulder injury and was a big part of the Colts' defensive success last year. Blackmon is still a candidate to re-sign with the Colts, but he's drawing plenty of interest around the league.

Campbell had a career-high 623 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 63 receptions in his fourth and final year with the Indianapolis Colts in 2022 before joining the Giants in 2023. He disappointed with the G-Men, catching only 20 of 27 targets for 104 yards and no touchdowns in 12 games (three starts) last year. Ferrell was drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders in 2019 in the first round (fourth overall) out of Clemson and spent his first four years with the Black and Silver before recording 28 tackles (15 solo), 3.5 sacks, six tackles for loss, 13 QB hits, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in 17 regular-season starts in 2023 with the San Francisco 49ers. The 26-year-old wasn't available for the team's Super Bowl run due to a knee injury, but he should be healthy for the start of the 2024 regular season this fall in D.C. Ferrell will provide defensive-line depth for the Commanders after producing 133 career tackles (73 solo), 13.5 sacks, 21 tackles for loss, 45 QB hits, 12 passes defended, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 75 games (47 starts) over his five NFL seasons.

Odell Beckham Jr., according to Barry Jackson. The veteran wideout was recently released by the Baltimore Ravens. Beckham is clearly not in his prime anymore, but he can still contribute to an NFL roster. Last season, Beckham finished with 35 receptions for 565 yards and three touchdowns in 14 games. He could be an interesting third option behind

1 month agoThe Philadelphia Eagles have signed free-agent defensive back Tyler Hall to a one-year deal. The 25-year-old entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He has bounced around to a few different teams through his four seasons in the league. Hall started six games between two seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders. This is mainly a depth signing, but Hall does have the ability to start and make an impact on the field. This isn't a blockbuster move, but a nice depth addition for Philadelphia.

Steven Sims to a one-year deal on Wednesday. Sims was cut by the Texans during training camp last season but ended up joining the practice squad later in the year. He was quiet as a receiver but has been used more as a punt returner. Sims has been a dynamic returner throughout his career which is likely why the Texans decided to bring him back in 2024.

Michael Gallup. The veteran wideout was recently cut by the Dallas Cowboys after another quiet season in 2023. Despite that, Gallup appears to have multiple interested suitors as the Carolina Panthers have scheduled a visit as well. The 28-year-old hasn't produced a season with more than 445 receiving yards since the 2020 season. Hopefully, a change of scenery will help Gallup get his career back on track.

1 month agoFree-agent offensive tackle Matt Peart is signing a one-year deal with the Denver Broncos, according to Ari Meirov of the 33rd Team. Peart was a third-round selection by the New York Giants in 2020 and has played in 43 games (seven starts) in his four-year career. The Broncos have two highly-paid tackles in Garett Bolles and Mike McGlinchey, so this is almost certainly a pure-depth signing. The Broncos could be targeting a rookie quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft, so building up an offensive line with depth is a key priority.

The former No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career with the Baltimore Ravens in 2023. He tied a career-high with nine sacks and was tied for fourth among all edge defenders in pass rush win rate (25%). Overall, Clowney has compiled 363 tackles, 52.5 sacks, 15 forced fumbles, one interception, and 76 run-stuffs in 126 games over ten seasons. The Jets already have one of the best defenses in the NFL, and the potential addition of Clowney would make it even more dangerous.

1 month agoFree-agent veteran safety Mike Edwards has agreed to terms to sign with the Buffalo Bills on a one-year deal, the team announced on X. Edwards was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft but spent last year with the Kansas City Chiefs. The two-time Super Bowl champion has racked up 235 tackles, three sacks, one forced fumble, four fumble recoveries, eight interceptions, 26 pass deflections, and three defensive touchdowns in 75 career games. He and Taylor Rapp will be tasked with helping replace longtime Bills' safeties Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde in 2024.
