11/13:The San Diego Padres are looking at Kansas City Royals free-agent shortstop Alcides Escobar, among others, as a potential stopgap option at the 6 until prospect Fernando Tatis Jr. is ready. While only 18, the Padres envision Tatis possibly making his debut at the end of the 2018 season, and he's currently ranked among the top overall prospects. Escobar doesn't do much with the bat these days, but he's very serviceable with the glove. He hit just .250 with six home runs and 54 RBI in 599 at-bats for the Royals in 2017. He wouldn't be much of a fantasy asset in San Diego.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
