8 months agoThe San Diego Padres are believed to have made serious offers for both free-agent shortstop Manny Machado and outfielder Bryce Harper. Their bid for Machado is believed to be for around $250 million and eight years. Their bid for Harper is believed to be for more than that. Recent word in Miami circles has been that Machado is going to take the highest dollar amount. The Padres could be the unlikely favorite to Machado if they're offering him the most money. He would start at shortstop in San Diego and then move over to third base when Fernando Tatis Jr. is deemed ready. Machado is a first-round fantasy pick regardless, but going to San Diego would be the least appealing place he could wind up from a fantasy perspective.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
