3 years agoSeattle Mariners relief pitcher Steve Cishek (hip) is hoping to be ready for opening day but admitted that goal might be too lofty. Cishek had surgery on a torn labrum in his left hip and also had microfracture surgery. There's no guarantee he'll be ready to go, and he could be slowed well into the early portion of the season. Supplanted by Edwin Diaz as the M's closer, Cishek did manage an impressive 10.7 K/9, 2.81 ERA and 1.01 WHIP with 25 saves in 64 innings last year. However, coming in with injury risk and now the eighth-inning setup man, Cishek's fantasy value is diminished to being a Diaz handcuff.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
