O.J. Howard 2021 Outlook: Passing Of The Torch
4 years agoO.J. Howard was a player that many thought was on his way out of Tampa Bay after Rob Gronkowski announced he was coming out of retirement to play with the Buccaneers. Howard stuck around and was a major part of the offense before a ruptured Achilles tendon in Week 4 ended his season prematurely. Howard was the starting tight end before the injury, despite the obvious familiarity between Tom Brady and Gronk. The proof was in the pudding as you look at the lines of the respective players through the first four games: Howard 11-146-2 to Gronkowski's 9-88-0. The 2021 campaign for O.J. Howard has nothing to do with Rob Gronkowski; it all comes down to health. Is Howard fully recovered from the Achilles injury? Injuries have plagued Howard to this point after missing 10 games due to injury in his first three seasons. The total is now 22 in four years. O.J. Howard looks to be progressing nicely from his injury but he should be treated like a TE2 who could put up monster numbers if he is healthy. His injury makes him a risk and someone you shouldn't go all in for. If you can grab him in the final round of a redraft league or late in a keeper league, he could prove to be a valuable commodity.
