4/21:On paper, New York Mets starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard had a tasty matchup against the Phillies on Thursday night. Things didn’t go as planned for Thor and company, though, as he didn’t pitch his best game and the Mets lost 6-4. Of course, a less-than-stellar game from Syndergaard is still going to be better than a stellar game from many other pitchers, so it’s not like it was bad. He pitched seven innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on seven hits and zero walks while striking out 10. It did raise his ERA from 0.95 to 1.73, though. Thor was really let down by his defense in this one, as the Mets were seemingly letting Phillies’ runners advance at will with errant throws and bad gloves. Hopefully the Mets pick things up for him in his next start on Wednesday in Atlanta, a team he didn’t allow any runs against (with seven strikeouts) on Opening Day.--Andrew Bua - RotoBaller
