Nick Solak 2020 Outlook: Big Offensive Potential… If He Gets to Play
5 years agoWhatever changes the Rangers made when Nick Solak came over in a 2019 trade unlocked even more of his offensive potential. He’s always teased his power and hit 17 home runs in 85 games with the Rays’ Triple-A squad but he then added 10 more in 30 games with the Rangers’ highest minor league level. Solak also went deep five times in 33 big league games to give him 32 on the year. He also has a ton of value in on-base leagues with his double-digit walk totals. Along with the power and walks, Solak has shown the ability to hit for a solid average. And if that’s not enough for you, he’s played multiple positions including second base, third base and the outfield which increases his value even more. But the problem with projecting Solak as a major contributor in 2020 is that he lacks a clear path to playing time unless the Rangers fail to add a veteran third baseman. If he’s given the opportunity to play every day at the hot corner then pounce on this underrated bat. You’ll thank us later.
