New Orleans Saints Defense: Easy Living In The French Quarter
5 years agoThe New Orleans Saints Defense/ST was extremely good down the stretch in 2019. They come into 2020, perhaps even more reliable. This is excellent news with the addition of Tom Brady to an already loaded NFC South. With the likes of Julio Jones, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and D.J. Moore to defend, it will be imperative for the secondary to perform. Marcus Lattimore is one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. Despite taking a slight step back last season, the play from the three-year starter from Ohio State is still elite. If Malcolm Jenkins can provide even more leadership, the secondary will improve to the level of the rest of the D/ST. Cam Jordan has become the best lineman in the division. One of the best in the NFL after 2019 in which he recorded 15.5 sacks. With rookie linebacker Zack Baun falling to them in the third round of the NFL draft, he will pair with star Demario Davis and Marcus Davenport to establish one of the best units in the league at the position. The saints have what is widely considered the most complete roster in the league. This is not just due to their offense but also the star power on defense. Building on their +15 turnover margin will be difficult. Jameis Winston is not in the division anymore. Instead, he is their backup QB. Nevertheless, the Saints will still have a top defense for 2020.
