Michael Conforto Will Not Be Ready For Opening Day
7 years agoTo the dismay of New York Mets fans everywhere, outfielder and budding superstar Michael Conforto went down with a terrible dislocated shoulder injury last August, and he will not be ready for Opening Day. Conforto has made it clear the intent is to make sure he’s on the field at the end of the year, not the beginning, and so he wasd not rushing to make it back for the first game of 2018. Conforto was in the midst of a true breakout season, slashing .279/.384/.555 (.939 OPS) with 27 home runs and 68 RBI across 440 plate appearances. Given the nature of his injury, it’s possible that even when he does return, he won’t be swinging the bat like he was for awhile. In dynasty leagues, Conforto is clearly worth every penny to hold onto, but, in redraft formats, you may not want to invest high draft pick capital on him when the uncertainty of his production will linger for some time.
