7/12:Oakland Athletics first baseman and outfielder Matt Olson will hit fifth and play first base in his return to the lineup on Thursday. Olson missed Wednesday's matchup after his back tightened up, but there was much speculation that he would return to action on Thursday after receiving two pinch-hit opportunities on Wednesday. Olson already has 19 homers so far this year, and owns a bat that is streaky enough to generate a Justin Upton comparison. When Olson is swinging a hot bat, expect him to contribute a plethora of stats from a fantasy baseball perspective, but when he gets cold, there must be room for the sophomore on the bench. Expect Olson's average to increase from its current .240 mark, because he is pulling the ball less often than ever before in his professional career so far in 2018. A left-handed hitter that can hit to the opposite field for power is an extremely hard matchup for a right-handed pitcher, and Olson will have plenty of opportunity to hit in many hitter-friendly ballparks in the second half.--Tommy Vaughn - RotoBaller
