Marlon Mack 2021 Outlook: Has To Hurdle Some Roadblocks To Be Fantasy Relevant Again
4 years agoIndianapolis Colts running back Marlon Mack signed a one-year deal to run it back for at least one more season with the Colts. An Achilles tendon injury he endured during Week 1 caused him to miss the remainder of the season. Even though he resigned with his original team, it's going to be tough sledding for him to earn a large role in the offense. Jonathan Taylor finished his rookie season ranked third in the league with 1,169 yards. He will be the team's bell-cow back for a very long time. Mack will need to sneak away touches for him to be fantasy-relevant. The fact that he's coming back from a devastating injury is another roadblock that could prevent him from being usable in fantasy. It will take something happening to Taylor like an injury or poor play for Mack to regain a significant share of the workload out of the backfield. Prior to his injury, in 2019 and 2018, Mack provided back-to-back RB2 seasons. Luck will need to roll his way for him to relive his "glory" days. He's nothing more than a Taylor insurance policy in fantasy leagues.
