8/16:Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Mallex Smith showed off his power Wednesday versus the Yankees. He hit a two-run HR that really gave the Rays some breathing room, which was especially important given the elite nature of the Yankees offense. It was only his second HR of the season to go with a mediocre 29 RBI. Smith's value is in his speed which is best shown for fantasy owners in his 25 steals that sits fourth in the American League. Unlikely so other later round speedsters, Smith also gives you a positive value with a .297 batting average. He may not be a fantasy stud in shallower leagues but there are a lot of leagues where he is quite valuable.--Jamie Mellor - RotoBaller
