3/15:Luiz Gohara made history at the beginning of his career when he received an $880,000 bonus for signing with the Mariners in 2012. It was not long before he was called stateside and made his debut as a 16-year-old in the Appalachian League. Atlanta was impressed enough to trade for him in January 2017, as they sent away Mallex Smith and Shae Simmons for Gohara and Thomas Burrows. Atlanta is a difficult landing spot for Gohara, as the team offers one of the best pitching staffs for a minor leaguer to develop, but extreme depth will limit his opportunity. He has made the strides with his weight to be more effective the second time through a lineup, but his eventual role may be that of a bullpen arm. Continued development of command will make him a dangerous arm the first time through lineups as a result of an elite fastball and plus slider.--Joshua Schwager
