Liam Hendriks 2021 Fantasy Outlook: 2019 Breakout Wasn't A Fluke
4 years agoLiam Hendriks was an All-Star with the Oakland Athletics in 2019 when he posted a fantastic 1.80 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, a career-high 124 strikeouts, 21 walks and a career-high 25 saves in 75 games (85 innings pitched). He had an even better ERA (1.78) and WHIP (0.67) while striking out 37, walking just three and recording 14 saves in the shortened 2020 season over 24 appearances and 25 1/3 innings. The 31-year-old signed with the Chicago White Sox in the offseason for three years and $39 million to be their closer with Alex Colome departing in free agency. Although he'll now be pitching in a much more hitter-friendly home park in Chicago, there's no question that Hendriks has established himself as an elite fantasy closer. A strong up-and-coming White Sox club should hand him plenty of save opportunities as well. The Aussie right-hander's 67 ADP makes him a top-three fantasy fireman.
