Kyler Murray 2023 NFL Player Outlook: Will Start Season On PUP, Risky Fantasy Option Heading Into 2023
1 year agoArizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray (knee) will stay on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list to start the season. He won't be eligible to play the season's first four games. Before suffering a torn ACL in Week 14, Murray was enjoying another strong fantasy season in 2022. The former No. 1 overall pick was on pace for over 4,000 passing yards and 700 rushing yards if he played an entire 17-game season. Murray finished outside the weekly top-12 quarterbacks on just two occasions before his season-ending injury. He finished with 2,368 passing yards and a 14:7 TD: INT ratio while rushing for 418 yards and three scores over 11 games. The injury remains a big question mark looming over Murray's fantasy value this season. Arizona has a new coaching staff and a first-time playcaller in Drew Petzing. His top target from 2022, DeAndre Hopkins, was released and signed a contract with the Tennessee Titans during the offseason. The 25-year-old will have wide receivers Marquise Brown and Rondale Moore as his only reliable pass-catching targets. The bottom line is that Murray will run at a different rate than he did before his injury and lose some of his fantasy sparkles. With so much up in the air and sidelined for the first four games, he's not a quarterback to target in upcoming fantasy drafts.
