Kyle Rudolph 2019 Outlook: Another Solid Fantasy Season
6 years agoThere’s nothing especially exciting about Viking tight end Kyle Rudolph, but he’s finished in the top-10 at the tight end position in fantasy football for three consecutive seasons, and 2019 is shaping up to be another year where Rudolph finishes at the bottom of the TE1 tier. Rudolph scored just four touchdowns last season after combining for 15 in 2016 and 2017, so fantasy owners may be able to count on some positive regression in that category. Otherwise, Rudolph seems like a solid bet to finish with something like 60 catches and 600 yards, and while his dynasty outlook is hampered by the addition of Irv Smith Jr., Rudolph’s short term outlook as a safe option for quarterback Kirk Cousins seems secure. Last year, Rudolph — who had 64 catches for 634 yards — had the second-best catch rate among tight ends and was seventh at the position in red zone receptions despite only ranking 29th among tight ends in how accurate his targets were. If Cousins can bounce back, Rudolph should see some improvements, putting his overall ceiling closer to what it was in an 840-yard, seven-touchdown 2016 campaign. Once the top tight ends are off the board, don’t be afraid to take Rudolph.
