Kodai Senga Conquers Road Misery For Encouraging Showing
4 months agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Kodai Senga fired seven scoreless innings on Saturday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The 30-year-old struck out six hitters en route to his sixth win of the year as the Mets topped the Pirates 5-1. Senga had faltered to a 6.12 ERA away from home before this one, but overcame that vulnerability for his most complete road start yet. The Japanese import still needs to improve on a problematic 5.6 walks per nine innings to evolve into a true fantasy game changer with his "ghost" forkball. Senga's 11 strikeouts per nine frames are certainly appetizing. The right-hander is slated to take on the St. Louis Cardinals next Saturday at Citi Field, where he has an awesome 1.93 ERA this season.
