KJ Hamler 2022 NFL Player Outlook – Big-Play Speedster In Improved Broncos Offense
2 years agoThe Denver Broncos mightily upgraded its quarterback position in the form of former Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton already had plenty of interest, but with Wilson in town, we can dive deeper into the Broncos' pass-catching group. KJ Hamler is likely on the outside looking in behind Jeudy, Sutton, and Tim Patrick, but he could carve out a decent role as the 2022 season progresses. He can be viewed as a "handcuff" wide receiver with upside if an injury occurs to one of the Broncos' top three receivers. We've already seen Sutton and Jeudy miss large chunks of games thanks to lower-body injuries. The 23-year-old isn't established and posted just five catches in 2021 before suffering an ACL tear in Week 3, but he got a ton of buzz in the preseason – flashing his 4.32 speed. He might be a one-trick pony as a deep-ball field-stretcher, but paired with Wilson, that skill-set could produce boom weeks now and then. Thanks to his boom-or-bust nature and lack of opportunity, he's more of the best ball play, but again, we can't write off anyone who will be catching passes from Wilson.
