Khalil Shakir 2023 NFL Player Outlook: Year Two Breakout Incoming?
1 year agoBuffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir didn't see much playing time during his rookie season and had just 10 catches for 161 yards and one touchdown. Buffalo selected Shakir in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. However, things might be pointing up for the second-year wide receiver. Isaiah McKenzie and Jamison Crowder -- two receivers who occupied the slot in Buffalo last season -- are both gone, and the Bills only added return specialist Deonte Harty, Trent Sherfield, and fifth-round rookie Justin Shorter to the wideout room this offseason. Shakir reportedly gained quarterback Josh Allen's trust this offseason, which could be huge for his playing time in year two. However, Dalton Kincaid's arrival might spoil that for Shakir. Kincaid will likely line up in the slot with Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis out wide. Still, if Shakir continues to gain the trust of Allen, he'll surely be a part of Buffalo's offensive game plan. He will likely only be fantasy relevant in deeper leagues, though. Shakir is ranked 266th overall in the latest RotoBaller rankings, making him a late-round flier at best.
