2 years agoMinnesota Twins first baseman/designated hitter Kennys Vargas left Friday's game against the Houston Astros early after fouling a ball off his left foot. The injury was originally called a left foot contusion by the team. Vargas went 1-for-4 in the game before departing. Vargas hit a ball off the same foot back in Spring Training and also did fouled a ball off of it at Triple-A Rochester a couple weeks ago. He told reporters that he is confident that the foot is not broken and that he hopes to be able to avoid a disabled list stay. "I can play with pain," he told reporters. "It's not a big deal." The Twins are already without regular first baseman Joe Mauer, who is on the disabled list with back soreness.--Matt Terelle - RotoBaller
