Kenny Stills 2020 Player Outlook: Odd Man Out in Houston?
5 years agoEntering the 2019 NFL campaign, it was hard to project big things and huge numbers for Stills considering his situation since he was slated to be Houston’s No. 3 receiver behind stalwarts DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller. So it was no surprise that Stills finished with his second-straight sub-600-yard season. Even when Fuller missed several weeks due to injury (as he normally does), Stills was slowed by his own injury and could never get on the same page as quarterback Deshaun Watson. You would think now that Hopkins has been traded to the Arizona Cardinals that opportunities would have opened up for the speedy Stills. Instead, Houston traded for Brandin Cooks and signed free agent Randall Cobb, so Stills has arguably fallen from third to fourth on the wide receiver depth chart. To make matters worse, Houston has two of the best pass-catching running backs in the NFL in David and Duke Johnson, and tight end Darren Fells is coming off the best year of his career. If Fuller strains his hamstring again and/or Cooks gets concussed again, then Stills could muster 800 yards with six scores and be a WR3/4 depending on the fantasy league. But the more likely scenario is Stills gets lost in the shuffle and has little fantasy value unless he is lucky enough to be traded to a team starved for receivers.
