Kendrys Morales Not A Great Choice In 2018
7 years agoGoing into the 2017 season, expectations were high for Toronto Blue Jays designated hitter/first baseman Kendrys Morales after a stellar two seasons with the Kansas City Royals. Morales, unfortunately, didn’t exactly deliver the goods for fantasy owners in his first season north of the border. While he did finish with 28 home runs and 85 RBI, his .250/.308/.445 slash line was not what owners paid for him in drafts last spring. At 34 years old, it’s fair to believe his increased strikeout rate (21.7%) and decreased walk rate (7.1%) and ISO (.196) trends will continue moving forward. With Morales’ positional eligibility limited to your utility spot and power-happy first base, you could probably do a lot better with an upside pick rather than spend any draft capital on him.
