3 years agoHouston Astros closer Ken Giles enters the 2017 season as the team's presumed closer. However, that doesn't mean he will always close games in the ninth, as manager A.J. Hinch said he won't always be compelled to use Giles in the ninth inning to close out games. Hinch has equal confidence in Giles and relievers Luke Gregerson, Will Harris and Chris Devenski. Giles, who touches the high-90s consistently with his heater, is an elite strikeout guy (14.0 K/9 in 2016). He can have trouble with free passes at times, as many young flamethrowers do, but it shouldn't discourage you from taking Giles as a solid closer once the big names are off the board. Harris would likely be the next bet for the majority of saves if something were to happen to Giles. Giles should easily surpass the 15 saves he's tallied in each of the last two seasons for an Astros club that is expected to content for the American League West title.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
