Justin Fields 2021 Outlook: When Will Fields See The Field?
3 years agoThe Chicago Bears moved up to pick 11 in the 2021 NFL Draft to select their QB of the future out of Ohio State. In his final eight-game collegiate season, Justin Fields threw for 2,100 yards along with 22 touchdowns. Fields was able to showcase his dual-threat ability as well, posting 383 rushing yards and adding five more touchdowns on the ground. Going into his rookie season, Fields projects to start the year backing up veteran QB Andy Dalton. Fields should see the majority of reps in the preseason, but Matt Nagy has been adamant that Dalton will be the QB1 to start the regular season, and I believe him. To begin his rookie year, Fields obviously doesn't have any fantasy value in redraft leagues. However, when Fields inevitably takes over as the starter, he will immediately be an appealing option in a high-volume passing attack that features the likes of Allen Robinson, Darnell Mooney, Cole Kmet, David Montgomery, and Tarik Cohen. When you pair this with his rushing ability, it is a recipe for fantasy success. As of right now, Fields is no more than a speculative QB2 if you have a solid QB1 option. As the season progresses his value can only go up, so an early investment could pay dividends. Fields will be a popular streamer whenever he is handed the keys and has a strong chance to become an every-week starter a la Jalen Hurts in 2020.
