Jose Urena 2019 Outlook: Set To Follow Up Best Season With More Improvement
6 years agoMiami Marlins starting pitcher Jose Urena had his best season in 2018 and will look to continue improving in 2019. Urena finished 2018 with a 9-12 record, posting a 3.98 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP. Despite throwing hard, Urena doesn't record a ton of strikeouts, posting just 6.72 K/9 in 2018, the highest rate of his career. He was generally able to limit walks though, as his 2.64 BB/9 last season was the lowest of his career. Urena's 2019 will likely be more of the same. He's a solid, unexciting fourth or fifth starter on a good team, but he's likely the ace of the Marlins this coming season. He can be drafted in NL-only formats and in deep leagues, but shouldn't need to be on a roster in most standard leagues.
