Jose Berrios Looks To Continue Improving
7 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Jose Berrios took a major step forward in 2017, finishing the season with a 14-8 record, 3.89 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and 139 strikeouts in 145 2/3 innings of work. The former first-round pick's solid season helped to erase memories of a rough 2016 campaign which saw him post an 8.02 ERA in 14 starts. Berrios should continue to improve in 2018 as he is expected to slot in as the Twins' No. 1 starting pitcher. Berrios has excellent strikeout upside, having averaged at least nine strikeouts per nine innings in almost every stop along the way in the minors. He averaged 8.59 K/9 in his breakout season in 2017. Berrios could wind up being a great value in fantasy drafts if he's able to take another step forward in 2018.
