Jose Altuve Will Be A Top-3 Fantasy Choice In 2018
7 years agoHouston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve basically did it all last season; recorded his fourth straight 200-hit season, won AL MVP and became World Series Champion. He set, or tied, his career highs in average for a season (.346), runs scored (112), home runs (24), on base percentage (.410), slugging percentage (.547) and OPS (.957). Then in the postseason he carried the Astros offense at times, crushing seven homes and driving in 14 runs during 18 playoff games. He absolutely crushed opponents in their home stadiums last season, hitting .381 with 15 home runs and 46 runs batted in through 333 at-bats on the road. A player coming off this type of season is, typically, guaranteed for a regression. But not so fast with Altuve. The right-handed hitting veteran has now hit over .300 against right-handing pitching three times in the last four years, including a slashline of .344/.408/.543 against righties last season. His elite skills at the plate can make the argument that Altuve could possibly be even better this season. Altuve is a top-3 pick in almost all upcoming fantasy leagues and he easily is the best second basemen on the board.
