Jonas Valanciunas 2019 Player Outlook
5 years agoMemphis Grizzlies center Jonas Valanciunas will be a popular fantasy pick in 2019-20 after enjoying a very good run of form following his mid-season trade from Toronto. The big Lithuanian was a double-double machine in Memphis, averaging 19.9 points and 10.7 rebounds per game, even though he spent less than 28 minutes a night on the court. He even had a couple of 20-20 outings for the Grizzlies in 19 games. It was great to see him feasting after Valanciunas' game had stagnated a bit in Toronto over the last couple of seasons. Memphis looks to be the perfect spot for him to get his career back on track, as the expectations will be low following the departure of Marc Gasol and Mike Conley. Only Cleveland and Phoenix are expected to pick up fewer wins in 2019-20. Valanciunas will be a good source for points and rebounds for fantasy owners. He can pick up some defensive stats as well, and he's even added a three-point shot to his game in recent years. Although that remains a work in progress after Valanciunas sank fewer than 30 percent of his triples in 2018-19.
