7 months agoSan Diego Padres starter Joey Lucchesi had one of his best starts of the season Friday night in Toronto. He struck out 11 batters over 6.2 IP giving up just three hits and a walk, although two of the hits were home runs. The lefty didn't allow a baserunner until the fifth when he issued a walk followed by back-to-back homers for the only damage against him on the evening. Lucchesi holds a 4.25 ERA and a very respectable 1.18 WHIP so far in his second big league season. Expect a few up-and-down starts from the 25-year-old, but starts like this show there's great potential here.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
