Joe Schobert 2021 Outlook: Top-5 Upside Available at a Value
3 years agoJoe Schobert has quietly established himself as one of the better middle linebackers in the NFL today. After a breakout season with Cleveland, Schobert signed a free-agent deal in Jacksonville and continued to produce at an impressive level. The fifth-year linebacker had 141 tackles (84 solo) with six tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, three interceptions, and two forced fumbles. This led Schobert to finish as a top-5 player overall in IDP scoring for the second consecutive season. In his last four seasons as a starter with Cleveland and Jacksonville (61 games), Schobert has generated at least 103 tackles, at least one interception, and at least two forced fumbles a year. Schobert also has at least 84 solo tackles in his three healthy seasons (at least 16 games played) since 2017. Looking to 2021, expect more of the same from Schobert as the middle linebacker of the Jaguars. Jacksonville returns three of their defensive lineman and added Jihad Ward and Malcom Brown to their front seven. With Myles Jack continuing to play the weak-side pass coverage role, Schobert will be free to roam and attack downhill to rack up more stats. A third consecutive top-10 IDP finish from Schobert is very likely, even though he is seldom regarded in that way by fantasy players.
