3/31:Jesse Chavez will break camp as a member of the Angels rotation, reports J.P. Hoornstra of the Orange County Register. Chavez will start the team’s home opener on April 7. Chavez made the rotation on the strength of his four spring starts, during which he earned a 2.51 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with 12 strikeouts across 14 1/3 innings. Chavez pitched exclusively out of the bullpen last season, split between the Blue Jays and Dodgers. However, the 33-year-old righty was a starter in the A’s rotation in 2014-2015, racking up 47 starts and pitching to a 3.83 ERA and 1.33 WHIP with an 8.1 K/9. A year removed from an MLB rotation, Chavez is only a streaming option for now. He is worth keeping an eye on however, especially if he is able to string together a few quality starts early in the season.--Andy P - RotoBaller
