Jermar Jefferson 2021 Outlook: Will Have Difficult Time Carving Out Role
4 years agoThe Detroit Lions' seventh round pick, Jermar Jefferson, was a standout at Oregon State, earning first team All-PAC 12 honors, on the back of 133 carries for 858 yards and seven touchdowns in only six starts. Jefferson carries a large 211 pound frame, and there is little doubt that his downhill style of running will translate against NFL competition. The issue lies with the players ahead of him on the depth chart. D'Andre Swift is the clear number one option, and the new offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn has already spoken glowingly about Jamaal Williams as well. With an ADP of 260.70 (255th), some fantasy players are still taking a chance on Jefferson at the very end of drafts, but that proposition comes with some risk. While Jefferson is talented, he would really have to impress in training camp for Lynn to find room for him in the offense. With that being said, Jefferson is certainly someone to monitor on the waiver wire.
