Jelani Woods 2023 NFL Player Outlook: Will Start Season On IR
1 year agoAt 6-foot-7, 253 pounds, Indianapolis Colts tight end Jelani Woods (hamstring) has the size, athleticism, and tools to be an elite playmaker in the NFL. After being selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, he showed flashes of that potential in his rookie season. Woods had 25 catches for 312 yards and three touchdowns in 2022. His best game came in Week 12 against the Steelers, when he had an impressive nine-catch, 98-yard performance (both career-highs). Woods also had a two-touchdown game earlier in Week 3. The rookie wasn't fantasy-relevant last season and averaged 4.95 PPR fantasy points. But he also had two top-five tight end finishes in 2022, showing his potential at the position in the future. Woods could have a breakout year this season, but it might take a lot of work to bank on with a potential rookie quarterback in Anthony Richardson under center. The tight end will also begin the season on the injured reserve with a hamstring injury, missing at least the year's first four games. He's the 29th tight end off the board on RotoBaller and is mainly an option in deep-league formats.
