Jeff Wilson Jr. 2023 NFL Player Outlook: Will Start Season On Injured Reserve
1 year agoAfter being traded from San Francisco to Miami midway through the 2022 season, running back Jeff Wilson Jr. (abdomen) made the most of his opportunities, rushing 176 times for 860 yards and five touchdowns. He also added 22 receptions for 185 yards and a TD in the air. The 27-year-old was placed on the injured reserve Thursday and will miss at least the next four games. He is dealing with injuries to both his midsection and finger. According to his agent Drew Rosenhaus, Wilson could return for Week 5 against the New York Giants. When healthy, Wilson was expected to split carries with incumbent Raheem Mostert, the team drafted Texas A&M RB De'Von Achanein Round 3 of the 2023 NFL Draft. In a crowded running back room, there is a path for Wilson to be the lead back when he returns, but how many touches can we expect on a weekly basis? In the offseason, Miami signed Wilson to a two-year, $8.2 million extension. He is being drafted around the RB52 in redraft formats at this time but has slid down draft boards due to injuries. The Dolphins offense will be dynamic, but it's anyone's guess who the lead RB will be in Miami, if there even is one.
