10/2:The A's front office effectively confirmed that Jed Lowrie will be brought back and will start at second base in 2018. Billy Beane went as far as to say that Lowrie had "one of the best years ever by an Oakland second baseman." While this news effectively tickets Franklin Barreto to Triple-A (or another organization) Beane does have a point. Lowrie slashed .277/.360/.448 with 86 runs scored, 49 doubles, 14 home runs and 69 RBI. While expecting the same numbers from Lowrie again next season is foolish, he can be targeted in the late rounds for teams in need of bench depth in the MIF. Barreto is likely to start the year in the minors, which will certainly hurt his value on draft day.--Andy P - RotoBaller
