4/20:It was rumored all spring long that New York Mets outfielder Jay Bruce would see time at first base this season. That rumor is now a reality, as Bruce is getting the start there on Thursday night. Of course, it’s only happening due to the hyperextended left elbow first baseman Lucas Duda suffered on Wednesday. Perhaps Duda’s injury will be a blessing for Bruce owners; if he plays at first everyday, it won’t be long until he gains eligibility there in most leagues. Even with more eligibility, it’s tough for Bruce to be that much more valuable than he has been. He’s been on fire to start 2017, slashing .249/.387/.673 with six home runs, 11 runs scored, and 14 RBI. Tonight will mark Bruce’s fourth career start at first base.--Andrew Bua - RotoBaller
