Javier Baez Makes For A Fine Power Source At Second Base
7 years agoChicago Cubs infielder Javier Baez will enter the 2018 season as one of the better sources of power for fantasy owners looking at the second base position. With infielder/outfielder Ben Zobrist aging, Baez is likely to be the primary second baseman for the Cubs. Despite striking out 144 times and drawing only 30 walks in 508 plate appearances, Baez had career highs in both home runs with 23 and RBI with 75. His .273 batting average also won't hurt fantasy owners. He will enter the season eligible at both second base and shortstop and has a chance to gain third base eligibility as the year goes on. Given his power and eligibility, Baez is on the cusp of top-10 value at the second base position.
