Jared Goff 2021 Outlook: Downgraded In Detroit
3 years agoJared Goff has certainly been a polarizing player since entering the NFL, flashing signs of brilliance at times while also being maddeningly inconsistent. That inconsistency is what may have led the Los Angeles Rams to ship their former first-round pick out to Detroit this offseason in favor of Matthew Stafford. Heading into 2021, Goff will now run a new offense and a much weaker one at that. Instead of throwing the ball to the likes of Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods, Goff will now throw to Tyrell Williams, Breshad Perriman, and Quintez Cephus, to name a few. No disrespect to T.J. Hockenson, but he should never be a team's clear primary option. Those are certainly not elite names and the fact that Detroit has a less potent offense than Los Angeles will only hurt Goff's fantasy value. On top of that, the QB is coming off a down year in which he finished with 3,952 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 13 picks. Between 2019 and 2020 combined, Goff has 42 touchdowns and 29 picks, certainly something that is concerning. Given his place on a new but weaker team, the lack of elite weapons, and his mediocre play overall, Goff is nothing more than a QB to stream in favorable matchups or as a replacement during bye weeks.
