Jameson Williams 2022 Outlook: Injury Troubles Looming?
2 years agoDetroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams does bring a ton of potential heading into the 2022 season. The Lions drafted him 12th overall in the past draft and expect him to eventually play a main role in the offense. Well, there's no doubt Williams has the potential to do so as he posted prolific numbers in his final season at Alabama in 2021, amassing 79 receptions for 1,572 yards and 15 scores in 15 games. He averaged a whopping 19.9 yards per catch. That put him fifth among FBS receivers in yards last season. Unfortunately, the stud WR suffered a torn ACL in the National Championship this past January and that puts his Week 1 status in jeopardy. Reports have stated Williams has progressed well but Detroit will not rush the rookie onto the field this season, especially considering they have capable receivers in Amon-Ra St. Brown and D.J. Chark Jr. Given the uncertainty of his status, he may return early in the season, midseason, or even late in the season. Due to his injury recovery and unknown timeline, Williams should be nothing more than a stash player given the fact that he may not hit the field much in 2022.
