Ja’Lynn Polk 2024 Outlook: Opportunity In Barren Receiving Room
6 months agoThe New England Patriots shocked the world when they selected Washington receiver Ja'Lynn Polk thirty-seventh overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. The second-rounder broke out in 2023 with 69 catches for 1,159 yards and nine touchdowns, but may have landed in a less talented receiving room than the one he leaves behind in college. There is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the New England offense under new offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt, who comes over from Cleveland, along with first-year head coach Jerod Mayo calling the shots and a rookie quarterback in Drake Maye piloting the offense. More uncertainty lies in the receiver room, which is a mix of castoffs and unknowns. Polk, fourth-rounder Javon Baker, and second-year Demario Douglas are the most intriguing options for fantasy but veterans Kendrick Bourne, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and K.J. Osborn will take some targets along with tight end Hunter Henry. The uncertainty of the room means that all options can be grabbed at a low price, meaning at least one will likely end up being a huge bargain. Polk is a good bet given that he has the highest draft capital of the young receivers and joins the team in the same class as Maye. He also has the capability to line up in the slot as well as out wide, and could end up as the most heavily targeted player on the team.
