2 years agoJake Thompson’s roller coaster 2017 season continues today as he was promoted from the Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs once again in order to start against Miami. The 23-year-old has been moved five times between Triple-A and the major leagues this season, making three relief appearances and two starts for the Phillies along the way. Thompson has had one good start and a bad one, tossing five shutout innings in his first start before allowing seven runs in five his last time out. Following Nick Pivetta’s demotion it became clear that the Phillies would need another starter at some point. To make room for Thompson, the club demoted reliever Ricardo Pinto to Triple-A. Thompson has struggled mightily in Lehigh Valley this season, going 5-13 with a 5.34 ERA.--Ricky Delgado - RotoBaller
