Jahmyr Gibbs 2023 Outlook: Rookie Set For Big Role
2 years agoDetroit Lions rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs was surprisingly selected twelfth overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. The former Georgia Tech and Alabama running back should see work right away following the trade of D'Andre Swift, and will pair with David Montgomery to form a formidable running back duo. With Jameson Williams suspended for the first six games of the season, Gibbs is expected to line up in the slot early and often. He has an Austin Ekeler/Alvin Kamara-type ceiling this season as he should see work in the receiving game as well as his fair share of carries. Detroit was an efficient offense a season ago, and Gibbs should play the D'Andre Swift role from last season with more potential usage. He should be drafted as a high upside RB2.
