J.K. DOBBINS 2021 OUTLOOK: OUT FOR THE SEASON WITH TORN ACL
3 years agoUPDATE: Unfortunately, J.K. Dobbins (knee) has been placed on season-ending injured reserve and will miss the entire 2021 season after tearing his ACL in the Ravens' third preseason game vs. Washington. Gus Edwards, fresh off a two-year, $10M contract extension, becomes the primary early-down back in Baltimore. Ty'Son Williams figures to play behind Edwards in a complementary role.
PRIOR TO THE INJURY: With Mark Ingram no longer in town, the Ravens backfield belongs to J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards. We got a preview last season of what that split could look like, with Dobbins seeing around 60% of the snaps and Edwards seeing around 40% of the snaps between Weeks 8 and 17. During that span, Dobbins averaged 72.3 yards and 0.8 touchdowns on 12 carries per game. He finished the season with an average of 6.01 yards per carry on 134 attempts. Dobbins has one of the safest floors because of his ability as a pure runner in the most prolific rushing attack in the league, but his upside is capped due to limited work in the passing game. Between Weeks 8 and 17, he averaged just 1.1 targets per game. If you're a risk-averse fantasy manager, you'll want to target J.K. Dobbins as a high-end RB2 in 2021.
